In recent years, the UAE automotive market has continued to grow, showing strong development momentum and significantly expanding its market size.
In 2023, vehicle sales in the UAE approached 260,000 units, marking a nearly 25% year-on-year increase—much higher than the global average growth rate. Among these, passenger cars performed particularly well, with a growth rate exceeding 30%, becoming a key driver of the overall market expansion.
Japanese brands such as Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi hold a dominant position in the UAE automotive market. According to sales data from January to July 2024, Toyota sold 43,000 units, Nissan sold 27,000 units, and Mitsubishi sold 12,000 units. In the UAE’s August 2024 vehicle sales ranking, Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi remained the top three.
At the same time, Chinese car brands are steadily increasing their market share in the UAE, which has now reached 12%. Several Chinese automakers, including Geely, Changan, Haval, GWM, and BYD, have entered the UAE market. Geely, in particular, made it into the Top 10 car brands in the UAE in the August 2024 rankings.
